We have the means to protect children - but with vaccination rates dropping to their lowest in 10 years, so many are at risk.

Needed to do some work on the train home so shelled out for a first class ticket. Where I’m sitting on the floor! Honestly, I travel the world by train and so many countries get it so right. Why can’t we? 😢

Lovely to connect Phil from People Empowered CIC to Elton Head Rd Co-op. I encouraged him to apply for a Co-op Community Donation. Richard, store manager, presented Phil with a cheque for £250 to support Phil’s mentoring of young people facing challenges and weekly work in a local women’s refuge.

This is incredible - the decoding of a protein from a 3.5 million year old fossil hominin! This protein also permits determination of sex - which can be very difficult in fragmentary fossils, based on shape alone. Article by @killgrove.bsky.social:

In a 1st, ancient proteins reveal sex of human relative from 3.5 million years ago
Researchers have extracted ancient proteins from australopithecine fossils and determined whether they were male or female — a first for human evolution studies.

Robbie Williams bio ‘Better Man’ was a searingly honest watch on his troubled relationship with his dad and navigating his journey with Take That. His frustration being held back from showing his songwriting skills and the politics of the pop world. Saw another side of him which I admired.

cinematic perfection - Lynch would be a genius if this was his only movie - like Eraserhead, he created a landscape of intense dreams - first saw this when I was 13. The next day, I couldn’t be sure if it had ever existed on screen or only in my mind
