Garibaldi! They're the state fish of California, where I grew up, so I have a fondness for them. Also, very orange, with a heart-shaped tail! And before they become adults they have pretty blue spots!

A colorful abstract mixed media painting. Most of the composition is taken up by an irregular but mostly oval purple shape, painted by wide, sweeping, visible brush strokes. This is layered over with highlights and finer lines of orange, magenta, turquoise and lime green, often following the direction of the brush strokes. Two makeup looks from the last couple weeks :)

As far as I can tell #artvsartist is still more of an Insta thing, but I think it's a fun way of looking back at things one has made over the year. I made two this time! One of my more representational/realistic stuff, and one of the abstract.

My annual tradition of reading A Christmas Carol aloud to one of my partners continues - now with doggie as well!
In the foreground, the hand of the photo-taker can be seen holding up a copy of A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens.
