U of M and HLS alum. Go Blue!
I was at that game and it was about 50/50 Michigan/USC fans Pretty impressive still given how big the USC fan base is in LA

Ironically, just finishing this. Really puts things in perspective. Thought it would be a chore but reads like a non-fictionalized The Devil Wears Prada

The NYT in its constant efforts to avoid attacks from the far right wing as well as its center right owners and execs is complicit in the breakdown of the country’s dem. traditions because it is either too afraid or too comfortable to report the facts anymore - All while pretending to be “neutral”

My music group plays 15-20 songs at every public performance and usually only one or two are as good as we can do it. But those one or two songs feel transcendent. Practice with human beings is the only way to achieve that natural high.

Hollywood Reservoir is the best for a nice nature run. Lots of other people there. Kind of hidden

I realize I’m in the minority but I think it does a better job of catching the weirdness of Herbert’s books. Aside from the limitations of 80’s special effects, the whole thing is more entertaining overall than the current films

Ironically, the folks who will be hit the hardest by this will be his constituency in rural areas who rely on home delivery that is not cost efficient.

When I was in law school in the late 80s didn’t have a ton of $ but the highlight of my week was to buy one CD every Friday at the Newbury Comics in Harvard Square. Still have most of them.

This is just a symptom of the larger issue of what is the business plan for AI. The VCs are starting to realize how expensive it is and that the problems AI solves are not as great as the current investment and costs support. Now we are in the stage of forcing the costs on the ignorant like crypto

The fact that this includes most of the cable assets, except Bravo which is their most profitable, is a pretty clear indication that this spin-off is a fire sale to get them out of the basic cable business. Politics is likely a secondary concern to them since $ is Comcast’s primary guiding light.

Me too - class of ‘83. It can be argued that our current financial system which killed the middle class and unsustainably skewed all upside to the billionaires began with the Supply Side Econ that Reagan was peddling in the 1980 campaign - what Bush 1 called voodoo econ and later Trickle Down Econ

Along that lone a lyric from Walk Away Renee by Billy Bragg:

“ I said, "I'm the most illegible bachelor in town."
And she said, "Yeah. That's why I can never understand any of those silly letters you send me."

Persuadable voters need to be given a reason to vote dem not another marketing pitch with PR approved, carefully crafted language which is what really turns voters off. Speaking from the heart like FDR about why dems can help people is what we need. Intent is more important than certain words.

This is the same old conversation that the democratic centrists have had for the past 20+ years. The idea that changing left leaning language is going to solve the fact that centrists democrats are not connecting with either the right or the left is silly. Just another excuse to stay status quo

Maybe but I can’t imagine that test creators could put out a test that doesn’t reflect changes to the law as of test date. A student who took con law 2 years ago will have trouble. Any con law question that relies on predicting how past precedents might rule the outcome of a case will be suspect.
