Something must have been said about the shift of the casual/subdued manner of acting in the 80s/90s to the more animated acting we have today.
There’s an alluring lack of urgency in the characters - I’m sure someone smarter than me involved in the creative arts has studied and documented this.

Even the show’s male protagonist, Mulder, who is prone to believing the fantastical almost shows no concern to the plight of this nurse casting a shadow against his pretty favourable image thus far.

I think it is refreshingly honest and progressive.
In this episode, they deal with the disheartening rape if a nurse in a hospital and the struggle she has to endure to be believed even though she exhibits all the expected physical tells of a woman who has been raped.
