As a Latina, I am unfortunately aware that there are a lot of self-hating Latinos who are racist towards immigrant Latinos. These are the types of Latinos who get angry if someone speaks the them in Spanish. Some of these Latinos are immigrants themselves. It has never made sense to me.

It’s unfortunate that some thought you were racist/tone deaf. I’m Mexican, super proud of my culture;my friends and family agreed with your point. I am aware of and concerned with the effects optics have.The minute I saw the Mexican flags, I knew Trump would use, in a negative way,to his advantage.

As a little Mexican girl growing up in the US in the 1970s, it would have made me so happy to know that you were Latina. You were my hero. As an adult, it makes me so happy that you are as beautiful of a person inside as you are outside…and that you are proud of your Mexican heritage. ❤️

I’m Mexican…from Los Angeles…very proud of my culture and heritage. I agree with you for strategic reasons. When I saw people waving Mexican flags, I cringed because that is exactly what Trump wants…to inflame his anti-immigrant racist supporters. That does not help us.
