Afaik lately the `OOBE\BYPASSNRO` trick doesn't even work anymore.
Now you have to use tools designed for sysadmins, like creating profile from CLI via `net` command, or configure unattended installs, or maybe enter the computer into a domain (if you have active directory and pro license)

Maybe bsky blocks quotes when OP blocks the quoter? *shrug*

I can't argue with that, and I'm not saying it's necessarily their fault.
But a, it's funny, b, you should not waste resources trying to convince them

It's much more effective to help those people who are open to something new.

If course it does not apply, and I'm sure there are still legitimate reasons why people still use Windows.
If I'd be using CAD softwares or idk, maybe I'd be very grateful for that guide.

But these people exist too, and it's fun distill their issues into a fictional person and laugh at that :D
November 20, 2025 at 3:02 AM
I'm not sure they can be helped. Maybe if they get tired of it, they can be helped, but until then I'm not sure there's anything that can be done about it.

Maybe we can laugh at them (and myself too, I'm not exempt from sometimes spending too much time trying to keep using the things I'm used to)

They argue that `sudo apt install firefox` is too difficult, they refuse to comprehend, that there's a Steam / Play store like appstore for all apps if they don't want terminal.
But at the same time, they see no issues with having to edit weirdly named registry keys to remove a quick launch icon?
November 20, 2025 at 2:49 AM
It's like arguing with someone who thinks drinking 4 beers every night is okay, because they still can show up to work and not get fired.
Unless they admit it's an issue, you cannot fix them.

Same with these people. As long as they accept that MS constantly craps on their needs, you can't help.
November 20, 2025 at 2:49 AM
IMHO it's pointless trying convincing them. They gotta realize that having to research unofficial workarounds to manufactured issue is not okay, especially that MS regularly and deliberately breaks it

They just accept it as normal, and to make themselves feel better they believe Linux is much worse
November 20, 2025 at 2:49 AM
I'm not here to convince them, I here to laugh at them :D
Their constant "issues" on Linux haven't been a thing since years, while it applies to their choice of OS more and more.
November 20, 2025 at 2:49 AM
Don't get me wrong, I'm glad it's happening, I'm just a bit disappointed that it's "just" on par with the current (from 2023) offerings (+eyetracking) at a higher price vs actually competing with the premium headsets.
November 12, 2025 at 11:25 PM
So anyway, I'm streaming VRChat on my PC at ~40FPS, will that 20% reduce in latency, much less display artifacting will be a $1000 worth of upgrade?
Especially that I won't be able to use the onboard horsepower, and eyetracking is pretty boring w/o face tracking, that I'm expected to solve somehow?
November 12, 2025 at 11:25 PM
Okay, it has foveated streaming at higher bandwidth might be unbelievably, but idk, the Pico 4 already felt fine, I'm not sure they can make it $1000 better on a similar LCD panel. Okay, it will reduce compression artifacting, but the panels will still glow in the dark just like on every LCD display
November 12, 2025 at 11:25 PM
Now comes Valve, takes away the face tracking, not even an USB port for it, takes away the color passthrough, keeps the resolution, upgrades the controller a little bit, and charges roughly the same? 4-5 years later.
November 12, 2025 at 11:25 PM
Later Meta release the Quest Pro. Afaik they have better quality display, so better colors or idk, but the controllers are a bit unreliable.
They also had questionable quality color passthrough too, which was interesting, even if not very useful.
November 12, 2025 at 11:25 PM
The Pico 4 already brought us pancake lenses in 2022 at the same resolution (only at 90Hz though), and if you imported a Pro, or got an Enterprise edition then you got face and eye tracking too.
I tried one I think in 2023 for Furality, the upgrade was very nice, though it didn't felt nextgeneration
November 12, 2025 at 11:25 PM
Yes, it's a clear upgrade over Quest 2 which is 6 years old a the time of release.
IMHO a $1000 piece of tech MUST be significantly better than a half decade old one that was sold for 249 otherwise it shouldn't even exist

But is it really a clear upgrade over anything current gen? More like on par?
