Two thoughts on why they’d mention EUDI wallets:
1. The wallets access web sites to fetch digital documents, e.g. at OAuth authorisation server endpoints. Here they may configure tracking.
2. The wallet is typically used for user onboarding at websites, which may be a good moment to manage consent.

Old enough to remember this tragic widescreen TV complaint

At one stage he had as many as 18 people hostage on the fourth floor of the 32-storey tower, which houses several large financial firms, while 200 others remained trapped as police sought to negotiate with the man.

Fits the humane and accessible brand very well. Congrats @yegg13.bsky.social and team. Just sad DuckDuckGo’ing “Duck Sans” did not yet provide an explanatory result!

Right, we also have one-time passwords, passwords for key derivation, or passcodes to activate some other means to produce credentials. The uniformness issue can be resolved if needed, like in BIP-39.

The ISO/IEC 29115 authors seem to: passwords are multiple-use credentials, while keys are part of means to produce single-use credentials.

I’d say we have several layers:
- authenticating the digital identity to identify a person;
- authenticating user identities to control access to a digital identity;
- identifying persons to register their user identities.

Credential is my new favourite polyseme in #DigitalIdentity. Sometimes it means data to present yourself as a digital entity, other times the document to exchange identity attributes between those digital entities.

Reflect in preludes.eu/op/2025/i/ on different treatments in standards and systems.

Similar to AGPLv3 even: EUPL also applies copyleft to network services “providing access to [the Work’s] essential functionalities at the disposal of any other natural or legal person”.

Yes. This is more noticeable when not working with domain experts, but building expertise as a (startup/scale-up) team. We’ve discovered a lot about our business by programming and remodelling.

For example, the TGV experiment france-identite.gouv.fr/experimentat... reuses several Wallet infrastructure components and is available through the same mobile app, but will likely lead to a non-EUDI standard for the specific context of use.
Présentez France Identité lors de la vérification de votre titre de transport
Depuis le 20 janvier 2025, une expérimentation conjointe entre France Identité et la SNCF est lancée pour utiliser l’application dans les TGV.

Right – no legal requirement for EUDI Wallet to support this use case, although the infrastructure could support it. Implementation would be voluntary or mandated by other legislation. One tech issue to solve is performance: standardise an additional protocol to quickly open public transport gates.
