I am a development economist doing my best to advise decision-makers on ways to optimize their policies to improve economies, lives and the environment. I am currently the Deputy-Director of the Agrifood Economics and Policy Division at the FAO.
Wonderful session in Nairobi with officials of the State Department for Crop Development of the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development. We discussed activities of the @fao.org #MAFAP programme in Kenya, including the assessment of the National Fertilizer Subsidy Programme.

We cannot take for granted that public expenditures in the agri-food sector are nutrition sensitive. One of our
@fao.org initiatives achieved a collaboration with Ethiopia’s
Public Studies Institute that has shed light on this issue.

Thank you @worldagricultureforum.org for the opportunity to convey @fao.org FAO messages on “𝐀𝐝𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐕𝐚𝐥𝐮𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐒𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐈𝐧𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐞 𝐀𝐥𝐥 𝐀𝐥𝐨𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐕𝐚𝐥𝐮𝐞 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐢𝐧”. Let's have methodologies to identify critical inequality points. Let's optimize policies to ensure value addition for all.

What a wrap! Thank you Dr. Mohammad Emdad Ullah Mian, Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture for receiving our @FAO.org #MAFAP delegation in your office. We have agreed on the technical support we will provide to the Government of Bangladesh to inform agricultural transformation and planning.

Thrilled to have shown how, through our #PolOpT tool, @fao.org is helping countries optimize agricultural policy support to enable higher returns for economies, people, and the planet at the @worldbankgroup.bsky.social's Food Systems, Land Use and Restoration (FOLUR) regional workshop in Türkiye.

#Repurposing and #budget_optimization belong to an important agenda and governments need technical support to bring it down to implementation, to which @fao.org ao has paid attention. Thank you @iisd.bsky.social for helping raise awareness on this important issue.
Transforming agri-policies is crucial for lower-income nations, but optimizing tight budgets and public support remain challenges 💸 🤝
