These are some of the same people who, rightly, critically engage with NATO and demand (as we all should) that Palestine is front and centre of our politics. New York plays a far more significant role in those struggles than, say, Paris, or Greater Manchester or Holyrood.

New York is the largest English-speaking city in the world. For a number of reasons its politics are profoundly consequential for Palestine. Mamdami's interpolation of a precarious multi-racial working class in the face of far right surges and centrist inertia is genuinely instructive.
