fiddly but also loving mapping out the wiring in fusion, it really helped last time, and the micromillimeter affordances I can make as a result really make a difference

new wood rack WIP - wood frame 25cm spaced 22ml holes for dowl, but using lots of repurpused old rods, some with shims. lots of variable lateral storage has been a dream for a while! all wood is found / scavenged from skips and the side of the road, most of the screws even, so zero cost materials

half sized and only one side, (calling it a wing) linear slide rail so can extend further and use depth of space between wings for compute / screen

not sure about extra width, trying version with rails in the body, but wont have the understorage

loving the half sized models they make fun fidgets

samputer mach 2 - my test is using it in bed or the tram and latest config has been great. next goal is extend wing range, make hinges stiffer, do lids etc .. also thinking could i build the 'puter into the board, like a module that KB runs over.

wiring into new layout thanks to fusion 360 wiring tutorial by @adafruit.com , super helpful having a plan (and space) and wires kinda dropping in the way i modelled. main consideration is right affixion points and slack so hinge wires dont tug on solder joins
July 5, 2025 at 7:58 AM
trying to avoid getting lost in the details so a bit of hot glue and tape for the last mile, but samputer is back up and operational with new case, hinges etc from the 3D printer
June 30, 2025 at 8:35 AM
so first self designed 3D print, essentially wide linear slide holding magnets, act as base for split keyboard retracted and seperated (so i can use them on my lap). kinda muddled through fusion360 to get accuracy, so disks are printed 'in place'

so far 3D printer app is better than temu
June 25, 2025 at 11:56 AM

June 24, 2025 at 11:28 PM

love you

3D printer onnits way! a bit nervous as it was a big investment but the time i spend trying to fabricate things by hand and the possibilities i can see if i unlock things like hinges rails cogs are exciting.

havent given up on things like acrylic cut and weld, and repurposing / repairing parts ...

reorganising my scrap wood again

been such a mission but got a v2 of cat fence topper - end to end coverage, designs based on vic department of agriculture, modified to use bamboo instead of steel, diy pole holders from
old satelite spokes and (mostly) cleared all jumping up points. stay inside you little fucker

heading back from six weeks up bush, doing repairs and renos on the shack. definitely whole other proposition we kid in tow, but so worth it so he can experience the bush
May 31, 2025 at 10:37 PM
pretty diy but progress on my little raspberry pi + power supply enclosure

bonus - my little hinge stand that my phone goes on, will have another little hinge for the spi display
