These properties include single-family homes, apartment complexes, mobile home parks, and student housing. However, the number has grown to 274,859 units, or $55-billion in residential property in the BREIT portfolio as of July 16, 2025. A 344% increase in the number of properties they control!

In 2019, Blackstone began selling its shares of Invitation Homes, which it had acquired in the years following 2012 to purchase homes at significantly discounted prices following the housing crash.
Now, in 2025, Blackstone says it owns less than 1% of the 46 million rental homes across the country.
