They are new CNG Xcelsiors to replace the 600/700 series of buses headed to LA Metro! Here's one at IAD a few weeks ago, just before they went into service.

Thinking about the MLK Jr. K Line station today: one of the first transit projects I got to explore on my own, and such a meaningful community space.

Here's the obligatory layover shots. Also finally started Jarrett Walker's Human Transit on the 888 - a long overdue read.

894 was full out of El Cajon, packed out of Rancho San Diego, and half the pax got off at the Jamul Casino. There were some 888 offs at Viejas Casino too. Lotta gamblers out there 😭

The Rural routes are long, but there's so much to see along them. From the sprawling canyons along SR-94 to the small-town post offices and the tall trees of Cleveland National Forest, I don't think anything has given me more love for my region since my first time on NCTD's 101.

Earlier this week I went to the easternmost point that MTS serves on every weekday - Campo, California! Specifically, I tried the only way to day-trip a full Rural line from SD without doubling back: routes 894 & 888.
