Yesterday’s in theatre double feature. Both hit me on an emotional level, but in completely different ways. A great day at the movies!

Are there any good examples of films that are theatrical in nature that mostly take place on a stage. Not unlike the musical numbers in CHICAGO, but also not quite a “filmed play,” if that makes sense. A film that uses cinematic language through the lens of theatrics.

Saw SUPERMAN for a second time tonight, and man, does this thing soar. Loved it so much more on this rewatch. Would make a good double feature with The Iron Giant.

Thunderbolts* (2025): They forgot to switch over the 3-D filter for the first 15 minutes of the movie, then when they realized what happened, they stopped the movie and showed a blank screen for another 15 minutes before restarting, so in a sense, I too know what it’s like to stare into the void.

Still buzzing after last night’s album release show celebrating Tunde Adebimpe’s first solo record Thee Black Boltz at Zebulon. The album sounded great live, and have been listening to it nonstop since! @subpop.bsky.social.

A HUGE congratulations to Lauren Wolfer for an incredible weekend at the movies. The Palm Springs 70MM Festival was so much fun, and I can’t think of a better theater to see these incredible films. Looking forward to next year!

When one of your favorite movies and one of your favorite musicals are both playing on the same day, you go out of your way to seek both of them out!

1. Don Hertzfeldt’s World of Tomorrow trilogy at Vidiots.

2. Natasha, Pierre & The Great Comet of 1812 at UCLA School of Theatre

Blown away by tonight’s Jack White ( @officialjackwhite.bsky.social ) show. A mix of old and new. Finally hearing The Hardest Button to Button and Seven Nation Army live was transcendent.
