It's probably cheapest to buy them all at once. I recommend playing them in order anyway. The story and character progression are absolutely fantastic, but it's not necessary. You don't have to catch up EVERYTHING. Once max level you can enjoy the latest content without hesitation.

I always bought them all at launch, so you don't have to pay for them all at once :D
