That’ll start after two more months of regular chemo, and it’ll take two years, but it’s still a massive step towards Getting Better.

David is at the hospital with her now, hopefully bringing her home this evening. She'll still be back up at the clinic for chemo and other treatments on a regular basis, and we'll still be here trying to keep the trains running.

In addition, one of her other medications caused absolutely terrible bone pain as a side effect (specifically her bones, not her joints) so a pain management regimen had to be added to her regular treatments.

The biggest thing is that we've had to change Sam's treatments. Turns out she's allergic to the type of chemo she was receiving before (and in fact what we thought was e. coli was a severe allergic reaction). It's not terribly common, but it is avoidable, with a different kind of chemotherapy.

The GoFundMe is still sitting at that same $1086, and we're still looking at $570 payments for her insurance. Everything helps, even just a few dollars at a time. We appreciate everything! gofund.me/d10f9de8

She still has additional PT and follow-up appointments at Northside for her chemo and a few more tests. We're in the long haul now, keeping up with her therapy and PT to get her fully recovered and in remission.

She came home on Wednesday as planned, and the last couple of days have been about figuring out how to help her be comfortable in the house as she finishes regaining her strength.

Her rehab & ongoing chemo depends on us being able to keep her insurance active. There's another $570 payment due on Jan.18th that will keep both her & her daughter Emily covered for the next month. The donations help greatly with that and with David & Emily's diabetes supplies.

(While she shows no leukemia cells currently, there's always the risk that one's hiding somewhere, so additional chemo is administered to encourage remission rather than recurrence.)
