Whether or not they should be taxed at all is a separate discussion. My question is why do you think tips should be considered a different kind of income than wages? Saying it’s because tips typically go to lower income people is a cop out. It’s all income. Tell me how it’s different.

Exactly! The part I can't figure out is why some Dem politicians are also for this (ie: Kamala Harris and Nevada Senators)... oh yeah, probably the same reason.

Why not? I'm legit trying to understand why anybody thinks this is a fair idea. Tips should be counted as income just like the rest. Frankly I'd prefer they get paid a living wage instead, but to propose not taxing tips as if it's some special type of income seems ludicrous to me. What am I missing?

This is the same thing I've been thinking and saying. Why does this idea have so much life—even among democrats? There have been bills for this introduced by Dems and Kamala Harris also campaigned on it.

And it shouldn't! Nobody should be for "no tax on tips" (except those who don't believe in paying taxes). Don't you think it would just be a backdoor for abuse by people finding new ways to classify income as tips?

You quoted Diana Bond saying her paycheck should be $1500 but after tax she gets $200. There must be something I don't understand about tax on tips cause I don't believe there's any food server in america paying 87% tax on their income. What am I missing here?
