I sold my horns when I moved last year cause I hadn't played in many years, but I wound up wanting to get back into it in earnest, and now I have this used vintage yamaha horn from the early 70s. I'm rusty as hell but already having so much fun, it's great to play again for the simple joy of playing

I got the jackets in for the vinyl of Past Future Present Memory, my new album!!! they turned out so crisp and bright. (artwork + design by the inimitable @aurahack.ca !)

I'm really excited for this to come together - the records themselves are still in production but the test press sounded great 🙌

reading Mood Machine, a recent book of music journalism about Spotify, and it definitely cuts deep so far

this gives me the grim impression that unless you make music that's comfortable for background/passive "listening", it's not worth having your stuff up on their service. your goals do not align

going to be taking a long drive this week/end - here's all the albums I have added to a giant playlist to listen to...! 40 of them!

I like to assemble a big pile of records that are new to me, then roll dice to determine the order of albums. I've been doing road trips this way for years, I love it.

I rented a cute old house w/ some others for a surprisingly good price in my last 2 years at USC, and this is what that plot of land looks like now. I noticed they tore the whole damn block down when I drove by in 2020, but this is somehow even worse than I expected

operation mint simple syrup has been completed, and this spring's mint has been contained, sorta, maybe

I recently found an iPod at a garage sale for $10 and hadn't realized just how much I missed having & curating a dedicated music player!

in hindsight, the iPod era was a much rosier one for music appreciation than where we've ended up. they made a personal, physical thing just for digital media!

did a bunch of lunar new year celebrating today with friends! had good tea and good szechuan food. very lovely time

i already have a lot of my machinations in motion for 2025 so this was a fun way to celebrate moving forward
