What made it even spookier was that a couple families of falcons who would've usually been scared off by the crowds had made their nests in the crown and torch. And so the pedestal walkways were littered with the carcasses of dead birds they'd been eating, with no cleaning staff to pick them up.

Unfortunately the crown and staircase up to it were off limits and my work only involved the pedestal and maintenance areas inside.
Still. Seeing it with almost no people there was super cool, spooky as hell, and definitely something I likely will never be able to experience like that again.
