Human Geographer. I investigate Indigenous land rights in the Great Basin, mining, mobility, renewables, land back. Protesting works. 🏴
The international elite use “emissions” not “burning of fossil fuels” or “air pollution” because it really works in service of industry. Plus you can lump in natural or more passive sources like volcanoes, livestock, and landfills.

Climate change comes from harmful AIR POLLUTION, straight up.

In fact, we could focus almost all efforts on ditching fossils and worry less about emissions.

Even if the rich nations were regulating deforestation and conserving wetlands to cut emissions (they aren’t), fossil fuel is still the main cause of greenhouse gases and deaths from air pollution

However, more extraction and environmental impacts are to come with these

Clothes, architecture and other PRODUCTIVE cultural traditions predate capitalism by thousands of years.

With the rise of machines and capitalism these vernacular, meaningful crafts have largely been lost.

We need degrowth. Less economic activity means more meaningful activity. Less burned fuels. Less back door deals between rich nepo babies and their ruling class sock puppets. Obviously people need money to feed their families but that is distinct from what the elite/normies hail as development.

Economic development is not inherently good. End the dogma. (Capitalist) economic development usually means fewer jobs, lower pay, more paper pushing, meaninglessness, bureaucracy and burning fuel and resources.

Unless you need the heat or AC there is absolutely no reason to ever idle a car for more than a few minutes.

It’s bad for the engine. Bad for air quality.

Fear mongering can be good. There’s fear mongering about fucking seed oil (based on zero evidence) and it has rapidly shaped consumer culture.

Meanwhile not many people fear monger about car air pollution, even though mountains of evidence show it harms us, and harms kids even worse.
