International students can be cash cows in one context and a drain on school resources in another.

They are a desirable workforce yet perceived to be threats to national security.

Basically, international students become whatever institutions want them to be.

First post might as well be a book rec #HowToDoNothing @jennitaur.bsky.social was writing in response to 2016 election so much of what she offers feels relevant and so necessary for this moment. ❤️ the connection to "deep listening." could easily be applied to language teaching/ education at large.
