If there were any moderate Rs left they could gain a lot of power by switching parties in that scenario, but of course there are no moderate Rs left.

They genetically got rid of crime to focus on empire building, which famously involves no crime at all.

He will not do those things. His entire life up to this point is a detailed description of all the reasons he will not do those things.

He doesn’t have enough public support to pull this off. “Strongmen” need to start with a plausible veneer of legitimacy before tightening the screws like this and Trump already alienated key parts of his coalition. I don’t understand how they think this will work in practice.

"If he didn't directly abuse that Epstein victim he couldn't have abused any others or possibly known about the abuse" is quite the leap!

Corporate Dems *can't* defeat Republicans, not when it matters. All they do is siphon off energy from the left and smother it to protect their donors. That's how we got here in the first place.

You can’t defeat the former without defeating the latter, and making that (at this point increasingly obvious) connection is necessary to win a Dem primary.

And? Less than 10% of Americans work in those jobs, the rest use those resources to create even more value for the economy. I’m all for a living wage and healthcare for rural workers (something many don’t have even with their unequal votes) but why should they have more political power than others?

If you add up the urban areas around NYC, LA, and Chicago it’s 12% of the population. They would not rule the country.

Overall the US is around 80% urban (including suburbs). In line with most industrialized countries (eg Germany, France), and less than others (Japan). You’re being dramatic.

The country is being destroyed right now, what planet are you on?
November 9, 2025 at 11:38 PM
No, every vote will matter because every vote will be equal. The way it is now is completely undemocratic. Why should someone from a smaller state have more power just because of where they live?

Will this automatically force the House to reopen or can Johnson keep dragging his feet? Is the Senate just voting on a bill that the House already passed or a new bill?
