Hi. Welcome 👋 I look forward to listening in - sounds like a good fit for me!

It hurts every cell in my body that parents weren’t warned about infection risk in the early pandemic.
I welcome this information from the RCPCH but it needs to be louder and everywhere. Hopefully it will flood media outlets this week.

Even previously healthy children can become seriously ill with flu, the Royal College of #Paediatrics and Child Health (RCPCH) said.
A troublesome mutant strain of the flu is believed to be behind a concerning early spike in flu cases, which experts say may be more severe than usual.
This is because

Post infectious diseases alter young lives.
It’s our duty as a society to provide info, protect children, reduce risk.

A clear #PublicHealth campaign is one of my many recommendations to the UK COVID Inquiry on behalf of LCK

⚠️ No parent should ever be in this position, no child should be refused healthcare.
If the truth had been shared with the general public, we wouldn’t have been left without support.

It is a privilege to represent the paediatric community, amplify young voices & share insights from families with lived experience.
Looking back at @ LCK's early work I will always be grateful to our #volunteers - inc @drsuepeters.bsky.social

Thanks, great point - I don’t disagree. It would be great feedback for the BBC 😊.
@longcovidkids.bsky.social supports families learning management strategies to reduce PEM, and I’m still learning how to improve management of my own PEM too.
Goal posts change don’t they !

Thank you Anita - without the support of inspiring people like you @longcovidkids.bsky.social couldn't support families and young people facing Long Covid.

Your determination, despite living with the condition, is truly inspiring and helps shine a light on the urgent need for action.

Slight correction - Sarah is a piano teacher and not a swimming teacher!

With my women’s health coach hat on I think the sentence on exercise needs removing from the do’s.
Patients need to stop before symptoms.
This advice doesn’t help patients learn to manage their condition/pacing/ PEM & is 🫤 with the ❌DONT.

Were lived experience partners consulted? If not why not?

I also worry GPs don’t have the training they need to provide the right supoort to patients.
Specialist services are disappearing- where will the GP refer?
So yes 🗣️ to GP -ask for tests/screening but this isn’t clear & info given is 🫤
Patients need appropriate exercise which is rarely walking🚶‍♀️IMHO
