FairEmail is a good phone email client they have a collection of apps to replace the default.

As well as a pi-hole on the VPN to do adblocking everywhere.

I use tailscale to create a VPN and then Nextcloud for personal file transfer and calendars... and I basically live inside its kanban app.

I also have a nextcloud instance on digitalocean for sending large files to people.

I would suggest Immich for photos.
