She wasn’t talking about immigration. She said it makes her angry to see black and Asian faces on adverts. This should not be difficult for a Conservative minister to condemn. The party has really jumped the shark.

This headline is so New York Times that it seems like a joke.

The passive voice is doing so much work in this headline that it is barely coherent.

The BBC has confirmed it won’t air its documentary on Gaza’s medics. I know some of the journalists involved and they’re absolutely excellent. This statement is mealy-mouthed; you can’t “both sides” the facts on the ground of a genocide, and there’s a clear public interest in documenting those facts

Deeply embarrassing country!

I understand the logic of running pieces - essentially traditional political analysis that uses words like “risky” - but I also think it’s fundamentally misleading to talk as if there’s a clear strategy behind erratic, scattershot policy making. The pursuit of objectivity actually obscuring truth

Feeling this in my bones today.

Last night I went to see a dear friend’s solo exhibition at the South London Gallery. It was SO good, if you’re in London you should try to go. Her name is Christina Kimeze and it’s free entry.

This podcast is an absolutely bonkers story about a woman scamming doulas in Canada with totally invented stories of incredibly traumatic pregnancy and birth. Not a classic scam as there’s no clear financial motive. I whizzed through all the episodes - it’s really well told.

I didn't listen to the Today programme yesterday, but reading a transcript of some of Robert Jenrick's comments I am actually quite shocked at how far mainstream discourse is sliding.
