Like…I grew up among Evangelicals. They hated Catholics. Like…there is a long history of this in the US. To me, it’s always seemed about aesthetics of Catholicism for these people.

Note that I’m not religious at all anymore, so take this as my outsider analysis.

The Evangelicals are only tolerant of tradcaths that further their aims. If they force a schism, then not only will they just give up any ability to influence the larger Catholicism, but also have forever relegated themselves to being the token Catholics.

They’ve always been pretty vocal with their liberal politics. They did a whole pro-Obama backdrop when I saw them in Detroit during the 2008 election cycle. Their fans also beat the shit out of some skin heads that tried to start things at that concert.

I’m not surprised by this.

Our ancestors were social and nerds who invented stuff. We became OP when we realized we could grow crops and raise cattle in communities. Other species literally looked at that our setup and decided to get in on it (e.g. cats).

Even if it was about the individual, they’d still have the issue of: 1. Having to show that natural order is a sufficient basis for morality, and 2. Having to prove that we shouldn’t try to stride for something better.

The Universe does not care about us. We have to care about us.

This is common in Ohio where I grew up. My cousin’s kids use “Uncle” for me.

I’m sure there’s some framework that handles this for you, but obviously adding extra dependencies probably isn’t ideal. You could always create some utility functions to interact with the storage so you write the conversions once and are done.

I’m pretty sure anything related to WWII, I always played the Allies. My many hours in Medal of Honor games made me figure out ways to take out Nazis even more effectively. I never thought “but what if I could play as one of them” because…you know…they were one or the indisputable history villains
