I often steer away from naturally beautiful subjects, but I can’t help but swoon over a good sunrise. Paintings that happen this quickly demand no apology. I think because everyone is still asleep and blissfully unaware of the mistakes I’ve made. Defects become virtues, if you just wait a minute.

Finishing a painting, at least for me, sit's somewhere between impatience and bravery. Which, I realize are not mutually exclusive human emotions, but wherever they DO overlap is where I think I find myself a lot of the time.

It seems only fitting my first post be a #pleinair painting I started but then finished in the studio because my fingertips demanded it...
