Sunrise Mythology The Mother of the Sun Lives in the grove of mulberry trees On the east side Considered to be sacred ground The Mother of the Sun it is told Was struggling each morning Getting her young Sun to rise The Mother of the Sun Quickly came to understand a way To teach the Sun to climb and to rise above All earthly creatures and things As the House of the Mother of the Sun On the east side sacred ground In the middle of a revered mulberry grove She determined to teach the Sun To climb the tallest of the Mulberry Trees The Sun learning first To climb the mulberry tree Next to climb the sky Which comes naturally after all, after that To the Sun Thus and thereafter The sun took this selfish pleasure alone Each morning At a time of transition Which then became known as dawn To commemorate The Mother of the Sun’s realization She must teach the Sun to climb the sky Sam Flot 2.8.25
