Some of the smartest people I grew up with all jump on this same gibberish jargon, speaking to no average person. And I hate to see it.

Like you could do anything with those wits and affluence and this is where you end up. Praising power hedgers with market-structure experience. Sorry, wut?

Love the taco issue, but the SD Magazine cover featured a now long gone taco shop on Turquoise, can’t eat em anymore 😕

Really enjoyed this book by Megan Greenwell, looking at the recent history of private equity through the eyes of those impacted by certain financial practices and tactics that have undercut the principle of private equity serving a mutually beneficial purpose.

A wonderful weekend away seeing some truly great old friends. Wish we made our way up to LA to see them and this city more. Always make time to check in with your people!

Also taking the train to LA is a far superior experience... https://samfiske.net/2025/08/03/a-wonderful-weekend-away-seeing.html

Generally a good idea to bookmark a Pew Research study when you see one. Interesting breakdown of teen use of various social platforms [https://www.pewresearch.org/internet/2024/12/12/teens-social-media-and-technology-2024/]

After a decade in private startup/capital world, nobody has laid out the PE model to me with clarity the way @greenwell.bsky.social does in this book. A bummer baby bear won’t have the stores we grew up because of it

Didn’t even realize how many people showed up until after the event, but at no point were we not surrounded by a supportive, cheering group out for the many reasons to express your right to protest. It’s nice to be around people that give a shit. It’s good to care!

It’s funny how this is already out of date since Trump is lowering tariffs. I find it less funny how being a man is constantly reflected as doing something tough, but never a thought about its consequences. That makes it less tough to not consider others, don’t you think?
