Have not but I recommend Pimp and Trick Baby. Reading Donald Goines now “Never Die Alone” which is pretty great.

Will definitely watch, and want to see what you mean about 2012 (though I think I have an idea).

The horror is in the emptiness. I once had a dream that suddenly became lucid, the realization these were shells I conversed with for hours was terrifying.

I think it was in reference to Virtual Reality, that the figures made to look realistic are the most disturbing. It's a reason why designers default to "cartoon" caricatures.

Cruising was definitely a notable event with counterprotests from ACT UP when it came out. But to be fair, The Exorcist is the scariest movie of all time, French Connection is a film school staple.

Killer Joe is my favorite, highly overlooked.
