YouTube is experimenting with AI powered age verification, effects to be seen.

Social media algorithms are very addictive and have great impact to kids whose brains are still developing. Enforcing an age requirement or at least some form of “safe” mode is a needed to combat the negative effects.

Tips:
1. Use MFA.
2. Use passwordless since it’s phishing resistant. Physical hardware key is recommended but can be less practical.
3. Avoid clicking on links in emails & text msgs. Instead, go to the website directly by typing it in the browser search bar.

Buses are amazing. Cheaper and faster to integrate within a city.

Even though trains can be faster, having to build out stations is very costly and takes many years. Plus, you don’t lose phone signal when you’re on the bus!

The issue is speed.

Car manufacturers (maybe w/ legislation) should reduce the max speed on cars which reduces risk of serious injury.

Cities need to implement speed cameras and/or reduce the speed limit on streets.

This reduces risk for the occupants of the cars and pedestrians as well.

Cybersecurity fundamentals continue to fail. Social engineering has been the primary attack vector for many cyberattacks.

It’s surprising that the developer installed a project on their work machine by listening to individual. Was there any security training???

Never trust, always verify.

To spark change, we need to expose individuals to great public transportation infrastructure to show them benefits (e.g. time & car ownership savings). Without seeing benefits in person, people are content and unmoved by exploring better alternatives. Time is indispensable, smart cities know it

An opportunity for the US to try. Curious of the source of Finland’s homelessness and the % of this population dealing with addictions and/or mental health issues. The U.S. faces significant challenges with homelessness due to lack of housing, and more importantly, a great healthcare system for all.

Also confusing why cars are made to go over 100 mph

There’s a misconception that juice made with 100% fruits is equivalent to eating whole fruits. False, juicing a fruit changes its composition, making sugar readily available and metabolized differently. There’s still benefits due to vitamins. If consuming repetitively, get to know the product well.

Never trust, always verify. A good practice that has been recommended to identify deepfakes is to set up code words with family, friends and maybe even coworkers to ensure that the person you are interacting with is genuine. If they do not know the code word, that’s your clue.

With the demand for more housing and the increase in housing development, this is a great opportunity to transform car dependent cities to walkable cities. The benefits of walkable cities like Amsterdam are usually hard to grasp unless one has been exposed to such environment.

It will be interesting if this continue and/or the pricing is increased to drive further benefits. NYC has a lot of noise pollution as well, which may have decreased with the decongestion pricing. It will be interesting to see how ridership changes for buses, since those routes are extensive.

Unfortunate how the fundamental cybersecurity practices are not followed. Lack of MFA continues to be a theme across many breaches.

Worth noting that about 2 years ago, Stanford had created a ChatGPT alternative for around $600. Stanford’s used an open source model and then leveraged ChatGPT for post-training in order to get their model tuned to perform similarly. Something similar may have occurred, too early to tell.

Paying the ransom only increases the likelihood of being a target again. It’s estimate ~78% of organizations that pay a ransom are hit by a second ransomware attack. The organization’s data was exposed and could’ve been passed to other groups who may try to extort the organization.

Great article! I try to suggest individuals to leverage passwordless authentication. It’s a more secure (phishing resistant), faster (~3x), and easier to use authentication method.
