Nice long winged conehead, it was very busy feeding on this bird dropping, wasn't disturbed even as we repaired that fence. Wonder if there is a parasite interaction involved

It's been interesting to see the spread of wasp spiders in the UK. Now very common on Heathlands in Dorset. I do not know if they are good or bad, but I have mostly observed them eating honeybees, and see opiliones feeding on the scraps below their webs.

Was very happy to finally spot a grass snake on my local patch. Dry heath isn't their typical habitat, but there are ponds and bogs nearby.

From flower to seed, bog asphodel do not cease to add colour to the wet heath. Their seeds have two tails that help them float, aiding dispersal.
