Despite every evidence to the contrary about how fragile everything around us is, you continue to trust that it will all just work out somehow. That's the liberal mindset. But in fact, we need to be building our alternative economies and mutual aid networks now, not propping up a dying machine.

I'm not talking about the collapse of the United States. I'm talking about the collapse of capitalism.

return to is no better than saying "make America great again." It's not great. It never was great. You benefited from immense privilege, so you thought it was. None of it has been real. I'm not being an accelerationist, but the collapse is happening so start organizing to rebuild.

I'm American, and no, they aren't ideals worth living up to, because from the very beginning systems were implemented to serve certain wealthy classes of men and no one else. There is no time in which the US lived up to this imagined ideal for all, and acting like there's a time you want us to...
April 7, 2025 at 10:04 PM
lol how could you possibly be "pro America" at this point? Anyone with a heart knows America doesn't serve us.

2/2 but the number of people who have been harmed, starved, repressed by capitalism is far greater than any communist government. Let's just start with the massive trade blockades against communism, and they still thrived in many ways.

Okay, McCarthy. Let's not pretend I'm morally compromised when you haven't even begun to unlearn American Imperialism propaganda about communist regimes. No one is saying any government is perfect, we shouldn't trust governments blindly overall. 1/2

It literally did. Russia fought on multiple fronts against Nazi Germany and the Nazi army made very little headway. So let's start with agreeing on literal history before we analyze.

Cool, but your "reluctance" is still the dividing factor.
April 7, 2025 at 10:53 AM
It worked to fight Nazis pretty well.

Okay, but your point was about corruption. So if all systems are equally corruptable, let's pick the one that empowers the working class instead of the one that serves capital.

No. In terms of a debate, anecdotal evidence is anything based on a personal experience, including "this is what I see a lot of people saying." If you can't show me data, then it's just your personal experience. I don't know any liberals that don't believe in capitalism, just regulated.
April 6, 2025 at 2:10 PM
Saying "most" anything without showing data is the definition of an anecdote. I'm not being pedantic, we can't talk about this stuff meaningfully if we can't agree on basic facts

Conflating governments and economies aside, I think you're helping make my point... the only way capitalism functions is through socialism? Sounds like we don't need the capitalism part
April 6, 2025 at 1:36 PM
Cool anecdote I guess?
