Very one-sided report from RNZ 😒. The courts were clear: regardless of what Uber call it, the level of control Uber exerts, their ability to dictate terms, no direct driver-customer relationship, all point to employee status. The courts acknowledged platforms are not alike, it depends on specifics.

Countdown has chuck steaks at $32/kg. Normalising by median wage in NZ and Iowa, that roast would be about 1.2 hours in NZ, and about 1 hour in Iowa.

After swearing off everything Adobe forever and losing my shit at Krita on mac I was ready to throw money at Serif, only to find they didn't want it any more. Willing to try this freemium thing at least until they enshittify it though.

Bug: shouldn't it have STOP! SIN!'ed early because it was a Sunday?

Being nitpicky: the Inkscape timeline is a little misleading though as it was a fork of Sodipodi/Gill which dates back to 1999. Chrome wasn't released until mid 2008 -- WebKit got SVG late '06, but KHTML had it since '04 (Apple's fork wasn't kept in sync).

Saw this in a browser recently too, might have been reddit web. Followed a link and along the way it made an extra history entry so my first back took me to the home feed. Very not a fan.

I checked the source on C-SPAN and seconds before this clip starts he talks about the Cambodia/Thailand conflict. I reckon he's ad-libbing as he reads off a list of countries. Also, what a load of incoherent narcissistic nonsense that speech was 🤮

High switching costs too. I despise Jira, but I'd take it in a heartbeat over the abject misery of ADO Boards.

I think part of the legitimate hate for these tools is the impedance mismatch between a top-down hierarchy of tasks, and the way software is actually made.

It's been a YouTube premium feature for a while. I thought it only appeared one you started seeking ahead so it didn't seem that obnoxious.

I don't believe you're obligated to watch ad reads, I'll skip them if they're mid video and particularly annoying.

Wow two of the guys behind one of the games I enjoy with my friends have joined another game company to work on another game I would probably enjoy. Awesome. I just wish I had the time and creative energy to play all of these great games!

Yeah seems a bit unfortunate. Hopefully they reverse course and dual-license the SRD otherwise it's just even more unnecessary barriers to D&D 2024's adoption

If you provide a detailed prompt, tune the weightings, then iterate on this, filtering the output and perhaps composing multiple elements, that seems like expressing a vision.

My big objections are the lazy unsupervised slop, and the devaluing of art by those who only see it as costs to cut.

We grant copyrights on photographs whether it's a meticulously framed shot or a blurred mess. The human perspective comes from selecting an image that expresses meaning or emotion. I'm hardly a fan of GenAI, but if a human is selecting and refining the output it's much the same.

The clip of Spectre looks like it might have been captured in limited range RGB (16-235) and not converted to full range correctly, leading to it looking washed out. Here's a better capture -- darker blacks and overall better contrast. It's still poorly lit even in optimal viewing conditions.

We shouldn't take it for granted. Disinfo, lack of political and media literacy are a risk that will erode faith in our political system. There are even fewer checks and balances against elected idiots/vandals here!

This. A cat needs the right mix of gasses. The closed loop control of EFI oscillates rich and lean by design to ensure there's oxygen. Nobody fondly remembers the era of pre-EFI emissions equipment to try achieve this on a carb 😂
