Yep! Which in turn took the name from a brewery in the City of London that Fullers had acquired!

The Griffin has always had that name (to my knowledge) and actually ended up lending its name to Brentford's old ground, a rare example of a football ground named after a pub!

Is the Watermans closed?! I only went last month. Used to live very nearby but sadly it was closed most of the time due to covid. Had lovely cats too.

I think boffin is one of those words that is kept alive by tabloid papers these days. I'd put 'scorcher' in there too.

That's very sad news. Had a few email exchanges with him about his excellent detective work on The Tipperary pub and some of the myths around the name.
