Our team at Princeton's Bridging Divides Initiative tracked over 600 incidents targeting local officials in 2024, an increase of 14% from 2023 and 74% from 2022. Events have continued at a high level so far in 2025: as of April, BDI has recorded more than 170 incidents across nearly 40 states.
