Both mutual aid and direct actions are TACTICs. Tactics on their own don't build power unless they are used to draw people into long term organizing efforts. Successful organizing requires 1) democratic, functioning organizations 2) winnable and measurable demands/goals that have clear targets

Yes, offering some relief to someone in need is a worthy goal. But it def. cant be the ONLY goal for any left worth its name. Direct actions can also be a powerful tool but in the absence of an organizing campaign we will never be able to build the #s we'll need to defeat our enemies like ICE/CBP

First, neither of these strategies on their own builds collective/ mass leadership, nor do they lead to redistribution of power in any measurable way. The kind of "mutual aid" popular today is far too often simply a transaction which leaves the recipient no more empowered than they were before it.
