True. But we need to keep trying ways to force them to do the right thing. It is in our interest. And unfortunately for us their interests aren’t aligned with ours. If some more people understand how these numbers should be reported they will join the demand. And that may force change

If every budget number was presented as a percent of budget, percent of GDP, and percent of 10 year GDP, a large fraction of the population would have a pretty good understanding of the relative sizes of these items and budget proposals pretty quickly

Perhaps the AEA or NBER or some university should create some MOOCs for journalists and anyone else who would like to improve their economic data presentation skills. Not long back charts and graphs in newspapers were discouraged. Now they have become common

How hard would it be for the newspapers or tv stations to hire an economics or statistics or math major to check the numbers, to present the reports in an understandable manner, and to teach the reporters how to do it on their own?

Real electricity prices in many states have been declining. And with the Biden period real wage growth, electricity bills as a fraction of income has likely declined for a lot of voters. Basing the election strategy on a problem affecting a few big blue (or deep red) states will likely not work

I didn’t mean that workers would need such helicopters. Such local rapid mobility will let managers fly to different locations in a metro area. So we can spread out the offices closer to where workers live

Certainly we should wherever possible. And the potential is vast. But to the extent workers have to come in, it could be closer to their homes
