My top tip: a domain can be renewed for up to 10 years at a time, 1 year is the default but not the limit. Auto renew is good but if the credit card expires, the domain might still expire. For an important or valuable domain, renewing 10 years in advance is best :)

As the founder of the Minecraft Forum and Minecraft Wiki, and the person ultimately responsible for selling to Curse (which in turn sold to Fandom) it's probably worse than that, we didn't need to sell to Curse, it was a choice.
