But it looks like they're all about to go in Jan anyway - and the players seem to know they're off, which is compounding the problems above

We're not big enough or strong enough to soak up pressure, and without aiming to pounce after a turnover in possession we look like we're out of ideas. It might be that given a bit of time, Hunt can work out a different way to play which makes the most of the assets available to him,

Reading seem to have held back a lot more against Blackpool and Lincoln, and they're particularly getting overrun in midfield. The problem is, what recruitment we've been able to do has all been around getting players with the intelligence and technical skill to play that kind of game

The way Selles set the team up, I would think opposition research is key, when you want to operate a high press, knowing the shapes and plays a team regularly makes is vital to knowing when and where to set up and trigger the press.

Watching the two league games since Selles left, it looks to me like one of the biggest hits has been the quality of opposition research. It's telling that the last decent performance was against Wycombe, which Selles' team briefed them on.

Oh yeah, definitely. Don't get me wrong, I don't want to get rid of him.

It would suck, but if we actually believed the club would be sold in time I think the past couple of years have shown we're capable of recruiting well. The biggest worry for me is losing someone like a Bindon and only having an underdeveloped academy replacement.
