Yeah... I just wish Twitter had never been bought by Elon and made open-source from the start instead.

Yes, I'm in it and very happy that it exists! But many interactions still happen through tweets

Social media platforms have a huge cold-start problem and Bsky seemed to have overcome it last year, but I think it actually still has to.
So for now, based on my needs and the whole situation, X is unfortunately the platform I should be using.

As an example, I see you're an Hytale fan like me: would you really want to miss updates, Simon's posts, model showcases, mods, the whole community?
Their presence here is basically silent as they are not encouraged to post due to low activity, and so it is for many other users.

We should collectively help the alternatives grow, but if there isn’t enough interest, momentum, or promise (yet), I'd rather use a useful tool, avoiding its annoying parts, than desperately trying to squeeze out what I need from the alternative.

I get it, Twitter has become very annoying.
I'd love to stay here, but my decision is matter of compromises.
Like choosing Win/Mac over Linux, Notion over Obsidian, Adobe over Affinity... we all want to avoid that SW, but they have unique features/conveniences that make them currently irreplaceable.

But I'll still check here and post important stuff from time to time, and you can still contact me here if you want to! 🫡👋

I genuinely gave Bluesky a fair chance to become my main platform and be the "better X", but instead, it feels empty and disconnected from everything happening now (for my interests).
Maybe one day this place will pick up (or X's CEO and management will improve). Until then, I'm switching back.
