Sure there are plenty of hairs to split in my example. Depends on the business. My is merely that tariffs are not the same as a corp tax and especially not on a percentage basis. Would love to be proven wrong here because this is going to trash many of my customers.

For example say I am making tractors. I am buying 10k worth of steel and selling it for 11k. 15% tax increase is only a $150 haircut. A 15% tariff is a $1500 death blow.

That’s because taxes are taken from profits. A low margin multinational business is hardly punished by tax increases. Tariffs however could wipe them out with ease.

I think maybe we stop ignoring the rural demo and start build a platform that makes them feel included and see the benefit. I don’t think our health care / research / academic institutions are working great for them.
