A new kind of public announcement in a bus in Berlin: “Berlin is tuff but sincere - please be kind to each other”

I’m pretty certain someone has said this already but having children is the ultimate productivity hack

Not sure how you all feel about the AI photo enhancing opportinuties but hey, how bad it renders myself. It’s probably my flat head characteristics that the AI is completely confused of 😬

Have you sen those DIY videos where someone sees how the thing is done and then repeats doing it? Needless to say I find the concept useless 😏 So for the fans of this approach why not apply a fractal method to it - never ending loop of witnessing someone by doing smth, witnessing, doing etc

It’s a nice sunny Friday afternoon in Berlin. Perfect for some lightweight UX work and SoundCloud with proper headphones for the groove 🎧🎶

There’s a Latvian expression “tvert lauku” - to grasp/capture the field. It’s normally used to describe a situation when a person is being a capable (or not) understanding a general and normally simple concepts of your interaction with them. E.g., he doesn’t grasp/capture the field.

Why would #SoundCloud (at least within Germany) irritate users in purpose with “Do adverts make you nervous?” advert breaks? To me it seems a very upside down approach like “let’s piss users off so they sign up”. For sure some do, a good bunch will abandon the product. Ask a researcher for advice!

There is more space and air to breathe under the blue sky, everyone’s just minding their own business. Not sure what’s coming up but this feels very fitting right now.

As much as the compliance and quality wants the things upwards and strictly set, it’s vital to keep the flexibility in formative and complex usability studies because you don’t know what you’re going to find out. Formative is not summative, push it back otherwise you’re doing it just for a checkbox.

I officially challenge AI to come up with a multi-role and multi-study phase usability test plan, execution and analysis. No way Jose you can replace me 😈

I can totally understand the temptation to put a person of trust in the middle management position who does it all for the upper management yet so often I’ve witnessed that it just brings a total destruction for the teams when there’s lack of professional experience & people’s skills + ego isssues

Over the years my everyday UXD activities have become so engrained and natural that the work simply flows and executes like some sort of a tetris game ⚡️
December 5, 2024 at 9:48 PM
Often it is difficult for stakeholders to imagine what value can UXD bring when the function has been underrepresented or not available at all. Once a professional UXD practice is established and integrated it’s like an oil to the engine and everyone’s pleasantly amazed and appreciative.
December 3, 2024 at 6:16 PM
I notice that UI designers who are using Figma auto layouts very often sacrifice a better UI over the offered technological limitations or are sometimes simply lazy to adjust and tweak it a little further just to get the job done. Let’s not forget to prioritise good design over these aspects!
December 2, 2024 at 10:52 AM
Why complain about that the development cannot keep up with all the UXD work the team is providing? This is the moment when the UXD has space and time to become more strategic (if this is in your veins)
December 1, 2024 at 3:34 PM
The one good thing about UXD in a rather chaotic professional tech-setting is that your practice is (or at least should be) well structured, pragmatic, transparent etc. This brings some stability to the table and you, your team, the practice in general become more reliable and respectable.

If, say, 10 years ago, someone had shown me the work that needs to be done now in my current professional situation, I wouldn’t have been happy at all. Yet here I am today and very content - especially after spending an entire year without doing any serious UX work at all!
