Don't get me wrong, I love my old pre-freedom group Marlin lever actions and Winchesters because I grew up hunting on them with my late father, but if I'm dragging any gun into the woods to shoot deer it's a bolt action made since 2000 and if something goes bump in the night it's an AR, not a lever.

If you really want to go down this rabbit hole.

We have better bolt designs. We have better bolt gun designs. We have better magazines. We have a more reliable gas cycling system for bolts. We don't have the complexity required using lots of small parts and finally we have much better barrels.

I have some lever actions that I inherited and a couple I've bought just because they're neat.

My take is this: It's older, more difficult, firearms tech.

We have made lighter, easier, better guns in the last century.

The AR is cheap, commonly available, and extremely functional. Use that.

People at the top rarely think they need opsec.

People at the bottom know their freedom requires it.

It's a bad horror movie script(and not in a self aware fun way) with really good actors.

There's far better movies in the same genre. Autopsy of Jane Doe being one of them.

This is way more fun than it sounds and is nice to throw on while doing something mundane, like tearing down a garden for winter or dishes.

I'm a 270 Win stan(I think it's one of the best long action cartridges ever). 270 is always 1:10 twist as the common weights for the caliber are all stabilized under 1:10.

I have no opinion on BCA, but it won't be cheap to feed. Depending on the barrel and ammo, 270 cooks. 3000 fps is no joke.

I'd also suggest Sandwiches of History because sandwiches are often a cheap fast meal and have been part of the history of struggle meals for a long time and there's incredible variety there.

Also Cooking the Books is vintage/slow cooker channel that can give solid ideas from recipes past.

Been following DTD for years now. Really does great work, doesn't consider it a 'challenge' because sometimes people have really strict budgets.

I'm a food nerd who studies struggle meals and her channel is one I recommend to anyone currently needing to downsize their grocery expenses.
