2026 Reading Goals ▪️ Read a little less 👀 - target of 156 books. ▪️DNF at 30% if I don't feel strongly about/love it. ▪️Read/listen to at least 1 book per month in a language other than English. ▪️Read/listen to at least 1 Nostalgic reread per month. 2026 Bookbinding Goals ▪️24 binds - with 1-2 maxing out on technicals. ▪️24 typesets - with 1-2 maxing out on technicals. ▪️Improve paper marbling skills. ▪️Learn 2-3 new to me casing/construction techniques. ▪️Try making some paste papers. ▪️ Try making some handmade endbands. ▪️Work with real leather for casing at least 1x. ▪️(Stretch goal) Compile tutorial/guide on bookbinding accessibility hacks.

2025 Bookbinding Year End Review ▪️8 books - a bit less than last year, but not bad with the mid-year move - new printer/paperstocks to learn. ▪️2 - rebinds (1 paperback, 1 3pc bradel). Both gifts - forgot to take pics of the finished 3pc bradel 🥲 - it turned out really well. ▪️6 - fic binds (4 quartos, 4 paperbacks, 1 flexibound, 3 squareback wrapcovers) - 2 blind binds. ▪️ Also got into (& really enjoy) the related side hobbies of paper marbling - ebru + suminagashi. #bookbinding #fanbinding #papermarbling 6 picture collage of this year's binding and marbling projects. Pictures are different sizes but all are squarish. From left to right, top to bottom - 1. 4 mostly hard cased books, open to endpapers. Endpapers are vintage fox hunting horseback scene, warm toned printed marbled paper, dark blue and gold printed marbled paper, Christmas holly patterned paper. 2. Selection of marbled papers - some on colored paper (contrast!!), some metallics. 3. Front cover shot of 7 of the 8 binds. Titles are hard to make out - but Black Beauty and Holiday Magic are the top two faves. Black Beauty is all black design - folio size black faux leather wrap cover with black HTV- simple horse head design, with some vine patterns to fill up the front panel. Holiday Magic by pluperfectsunrise is a printable canvas quarto size wrap cover - simple holiday theme with holly, cardinals, red check ribbon design elements, on tan jute-like a background, with white text for title and author name. 4. 7 Books standing up on end displaying the head - demonstrating variety - deckled edge versus cut edge, edge painting versus plain versus speckled edge. The ribbons and endbands tend to match the cover colors pretty well, if I do say so myself. 5. Work in progress shot - rebind of Lady Tan’s Circle of Women. The shot is a color selection palette of toner reactive foils, ribbons, endbands, and the printed flats for the three-piece bradel. Ended up using the holo gold foil - worked well with the dilute green and tans of the cover design. 6. Selection of marble papers, continued - some suminagashi (fairly dilute) and smaller warm toned marbled papers.

Many thanks to Storygraph and Booktower - infinitely easier than tracking on gsheets ❤️ and I'm always grateful for Libby and my various libraries - having fun isn't hard when you've got a library card!

2025 Reading Year End Review Many thanks to Storygraph and Booktower - infinitely easier than tracking on gsheets ❤️ and I'm always grateful for Libby and my various libraries - having fun isn't hard when you've got a library card! ▪️Goal set was 104 books - passed goal - 220%. 🥳 Read 229 books/audiobooks total. Actually read 2 physical print books! Really got into audiobooks this year - 73 of 229. ▪️No book DNFs (had gotten into the 3rd quarter before finding a true DNF worthy, but by then I had established a Pattern 🙄). ▪️ Generally a very enjoyable reading year - average rating 3.94. 18 5⭐ books. ▪️ 190 different authors. Frequent flyers were Mary Oliver, Martha Wells, Mary Robinette Kowal. ▪️ Most of reading material from Libby, bought 5 books, and a few from Prime Reading/similar. ▪️ 693 fics read (12,644,477 words total 👀) - not including my rotation of god-tier bedtime story rereads. Read in ~30 fandoms - 323 different authors. BookTower screenshot - 693 fics read, 12,644,477 words total. Storygraph screencap of all 229 books, in approximately first to last reading order. This is one of the many reasons I hate AI: It diminishes our emotional reactions to the REAL interesting/beautiful/horrifying/amusing things all around us. The real world is an amazing place and AI is the opposite of amazing.
