back where it all started
“Can’t believe you have me wearing this,” Satoru grumbles, looking once more at the sleeves of his simple jacket of indigo-dyed cotton, “bumpkin get-up. What’s the point, even? I’m obviously too good-looking for anyone to buy that I’m a common peasant.” Begrudgingly, Suguru must admit there’s a grain of truth there. Even in practical, inexpensive clothing and strapped with stuffed satchels, Satoru draws any eye and holds it. His snow-white hair is even more of a shock when surrounded by deep greenery, earthy hills, and autumn colors. He still holds himself like an imperious lord, too, no matter how humble his outfit is. Suguru gently cups Satoru’s chin, thumb pressing in as he tilts Satoru’s head down a few degrees; for all his griping, Satoru pliantly accepts the adjustment and softens the set of his shoulders as well. “The point is that you would look even more sorely out of place in your clan’s finery here.” Suguru smiles brightly while straightening out Satoru’s clothing and combing his short hair to fall just right. “Not only is this more practical for walking through the fields and mud, it also makes you far more approachable.” “Ah, yes. Two of my very favorite things: tromping in mud and being approached by random humans.” Suguru’s smile takes on a teasing curl. “Well, you seem to have taken a shine to at least one human who approached you at random.” Satoru snorts at him. “Special circumstances. Special human.”

Not really, but I do tend to update on Sundays. I’ve been able to post most of frostbitten weekly because I had so much pre-written—the next chapter is pretty much done and should prob be posted by this Sunday too

Chapters 7 & 8 will take an extra week or two (smut is always more time consuming 😔)
