Technically, Midjourney isn't a model you can download and run locally; it's a paid service, which you CAN pay for and the hosts DO profit from it.

I think it's a bit too close-minded to shiver any time you hear the letters AI just because there are bad uses for it; use it as a tool, not a product.

I'm curious, what do you mean enabling thieves? Like somehow downloading a publicly available model and running it locally on my machine would benefit the creators of the models?

I will say that for me, it's been a great tool to use as a starting point. Remember, it's never the final product.

i'd never use the final AI art as the final product, but the artist's work will feel like a remix or a remaster of what the AI had made as a jumping platform

to play devil's advocate a bit, it's a great starting point for me to use as a visualisation to commission real artists and have them see what i can see in my mind's eye, instead of having to rigorously explain my concepts to them
