sorry you had it so much worse :[ so you don't think, coming from a place of Culture rather than a formalized Support System, better early education about safe sexual dynamics and a stronger support network of more protective and communicative adults would have been sufficient to minimize the kinds of harm you experienced, or outweigh the vulnerabilities that culture could create? I don't have a finely-detailed vision of how to ensure as many people as possible would receive what for them would be the right kind of connection and information exposure, but it's clear that for many, significant harm has come of what has conventionally / reflexively seemed like The correct course of action that is broadly being leaned into harder.

... and I'm glad to have it to point to now, because I Firmly Relate To and believe in what it says, and have tried to put my own words to a lot of what's said there, but have struggled. and I got caught up in trying to formulate a post about its personal significance to me for hours, which I am once again just leaving unfinished for now. it's hard to even tl;d-write it without tripping back into that hole, but tl;d-write, I have suffered socially and medically from insufficient normalization of sexuality and education about my body, accessing erotic works on my own terms with the help of a less-restricted internet proved Healthy, and being made to feel [like I was in the wrong for wanting to do that of my own volition as a minor] and also [like trying to broach sexual topics with my knowledgeable and well-meaning adult friends was a bad idea for *their* safety] was Bad and Potentially Dangerous and had a Tragic impact upon my relationship to my sexuality and sense of Self carrying over into adulthood, which I'm still grappling with. in recent times, I've felt pressured to not be too much of myself too outwardly, specifically because of the few notably-existent minors in my general vicinity, and the people who'd make a stink about them being there... but it's feeling easier to say Fuck That, I have a Self to Be in spite of whatever cultural brokenness might impede me, *I* understand I'm not a predator who gets off on harming/corrupting people, I'm reasonably confident that nothing I want to Be would bring harm, and if I'm somehow mistaken, I hope I'm at least afforded the understanding that I act out of good faith and desire to develop in the direction of doing no harm. I'm eternally grateful for the adults who gave me space to Be A Person among them while I was still a COPPA violation, and it would be hypocritical/a disservice if I didn't pay their kindness forward, and, given opportunities, [haha bluesky is such shit, I gotta plunk the rest in another skeet]

Your original headline stated plainly that the shooter's ammunition was "Engraved With Transgender(...) Ideology". We now know what the actual engravings are, and the current headline does not explicitly state that the early bulletin was incorrect in this regard. At a time when it should be important to consider the impact your reporting could have upon escalating tensions, you have meaningfully contributed to the climate of fear and violence against the transgender population, especially given the spread of misinformation to other outlets via citations of your article. The carelessness on display is horrifying. All involved need to hold themselves accountable, and actively counteract the harm they are causing. The correction of the record must be announced such that the correction will be understood readily by those you have previously misinformed, with the same immediacy with which you misinformed them — say explicitly, concisely, and unambiguously that the engravings did NOT include messaging or iconography relating to transgender people. Outlets which cited you ought to be informed, by you the responsible, of such corrections, and encouraged to present their own corrections so conspicuously.

I was just awakened because some silly, innocuous thing I did in a dream I can barely remember (something about critiquing an ITG cabinet, not even relevant) made me reflexively clack my decaying teeth together, hard some of my upper left first premolar broke right off (understandable) but the adjacent canine has cracked such that the tip of it is wiggling forward and back slightly without immediately coming off just gotta. try to go back to sleep. and hope I can catch the tip of the canine whenever it fully breaks away. maybe after a meal or two, or the next time I brush my teeth. another message from Life along the lines of "you know this is too little too late, right?" regarding my newfound baseline interest in oral hygiene
