On Monday, a Tunis court will hear the appeal of 37 people unjustly sentenced to heavy prison terms on baseless accusations of conspiracy & terrorism after a shameful judicial process devoid of fair trial guarantees.

#Tunisian authorities should end this sham trial.

Sonia Dahmani is imprisoned since May 2024 for remarks she made on the TV/radio under Decree-Law 54 on Cybercrime. The authorities even retaliated against her sister Ramla for fiercely advocating for her release & sentenced her in absentia to 2years in prison this July, under the same law. #Tunisia

In the absence of meaningful government action, the #GlobalSumudFlotilla is sailing to #Gaza in an intent to break Israel’s illegal blockade & deliver essential aid.
Govts should take action to halt abuses, sanction Israel, and protect Flotilla activists.

#Tunisia The long-awaited trial for "conspiracy" began yesterday without the main defendants who refused to attend by video. By denying them the right to appear in person, the authorities have taken an add'l step to trample their right to a fair trial. @hrw.org

"Tunisian authorities deployed all their efforts to silence, prosecute, and imprison President Saied’s critics & opponents. They have targeted members of civil society & the media who dared question his policies, tightening the noose around hard-won civic space” @khawaja.bsky.social @hrw.org

Human Rights Watch's World Report 2025 is out. What about #Tunisia?

🧵In 2024, the Tunisian govt exacerbated its repression of critical voices, accelerated its crackdown on civil society groups & undermined the integrity of the presidential election @hrw.org
