Today’s breakfast: coffee with some milk, protein drink.

Lunch: turkey and ham sandwich on croissant.

I’ve accepted that I am an NPC. I am not going to do anything world changing; I am here to serve as the background character for someone else.

And there is something freeing in that.

If anyone knows of a WFH//remote job that doesn’t involve talking directly to clients all day, hit me up.

Noodle is now all dressed up for January! We’re manifesting a lower temperature (but NOT too low).

The next time someone asks me why I don’t want kids, I’m going to tell them this story:

Last night, while I was doomscrolling in bed, one of my cats entered the bedroom, meowing loudly. He then proceeded to jump onto the bed and sit on my chest.

How my first day of 2026 has gone:

Woke up on couch where I fell asleep.

Started to make bread.

Realized 4 hours after I woke up that I hadn’t taken my antidepressant before falling asleep, so I started going through withdrawals.

Quickly popped a pill and fucked up said bread because I felt 💩

More baking photos, because I need to clear up storage on my phone.

One regular loaf of sour dough, one with cheddar cheese, some sourdough rolls, and then another loaf of cinnamon bread with frosting over it.

And no, I’m not avoiding my problems by baking. (/s)

My husband surprised me with the 12 foot skeleton from Home Depot.

His name is Noodle Bone-apart, and he will be a year-round fixture in the yard. We gave him worshippers for October and he helped decorate the house for December.

I just scarfed half a bag of potato chips in the kitchen so that my husband wouldn’t witness my greed via the motion camera in the living room.

More kitchen things: I decided to make my own butter, solely because I could.

Strongly recommend using a KitchenAid to do all this work. I would be down to do this again if I want to customize butter, but it’s definitely not worth it for just regular butter. Store bought is more cost-effective.

I’m back to talk more about the bread I made over the last couple months.

Two kinds of sourdough, and a cinnamon sourdough, all from @kingarthurbaking.bsky.social

Buttery Sourdough rolls! The recipe itself is very basic in taste, but I think that just means you can do whatever you want with it. I could make these more savory or sweet, depending on what I mix into the butter.

I made more bread with a different recipe from King Arthur Flour company. I probably should have baked it in my bread pan so that the crust would be golden, but it is crusty and the bottom is golden. It’s cooling right now, and then I’ll carve it open.

Attempt #2 at bread. This time I took the starter out of the fridge on Friday night so that I could do the prep work yesterday and bake today.

It’s cooling right now, I maybe carve into it soon.

Well, it looks like bread! I’ll be going to bed before it’s fully cool, so it’ll have to wait to be tasted until tomorrow.

Day 3: I learned my lesson. Sourdough baking is a full weekend activity.

Dough cooled in the fridge overnight and is now hanging out in a bowl for the next 3 hours. Hopefully I put enough flour on the towel.

With any luck, I’ll be done baking before midnight tonight.

Day 2: my starter seemed to develop nicely overnight; it looks frothy at least. I’m following King Arthur’s No-Knead Recipe, so I combined everything into a bowl, gave it a mix with my stand mixer, and am now letting it rest for an hour.

Starter has been refed and is resting on the counter.

In an attempt to direct my attention away from the horrors of the world, I’ve decided to try my hand at sourdough.

Day 1: starter was obtained from a cousin a week ago. Tonight, I transferred the starter into a new (clean) jar and fed it with flour and water. We will see what I find in the morning

My employer did a mass layoff last week. I was kept on, but several coworkers were let go. My department, that I worked in for 6 years, was dissolved and I was moved elsewhere.

I am so scared right now. I don’t know how to escape from this.

Kicking myself a little because I didn’t get an exclusive merch item at a concert when I should have. My brain won’t let go of it.

It’s a magazine I already have, but they were selling a version with a different cover only at the concert. I’m typing this out to try and get my brain to let go.

When you’re married to someone who builds costumes, you hear a lot of brand new sentences.

Me: “I’m going to Michael’s to look at frames, want to come?”

Him: “No, I’m going to skin my hands.”

After 4 years, I have finished listening to the #ASongOfIceAndFire series on audiobook. This feels like the book equivalent of finishing a marathon.

If anyone needs me, I will be crashing out over the fact that I spent an hour prepping milk to make yogurt, sterilized everything, poured the milk into the yogurt machine and set the timer, and then failed to actually hit the start button. This was only discovered 7 hours later.

I’ve managed to consume at least 1% of a book for 100 days in a row, either by reading or listening to an audiobook, and I don’t think I’ve done that since before I graduated high school #Books @thestorygraph.com
