This is something that's just assumed where I come from; you have an ID and you're always required to present it when you vote. No one has ever considered this a divisive question, nor has a political discussion ever arisen from it. Can someone please explain this to a non-US citizen?

As a European, I’m genuinely confused about what the problem is with requiring an ID for voting in the US. Why has this been so politicized, and why would it be problematic or limit the voting rights of certain individuals?

I hope this gets us closer to a "rewrite in Rust" button at the top of every Git repository.
